Each year, the State of the District highlights accomplishments, shares strategic goals and initiatives met or achieved, and new plans for the future. Traditionally, the State of the District is an in-person event meant to cultivate strong business and community partnerships. It is a moment to share stories of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
Continuing on the path of choices and opportunities.
The start of the 2022-2023 school year marked my fifth first day of school to welcome students as superintendent. I still can’t believe how quickly time has passed. It continues to be a privilege and an honor to serve the students, staff, and community of Aldine ISD.
Each and every day, I and every educator and leader are reminded about our why — students. As a former teacher, school leader, and parent, it is clear that every decision must be toward providing meaningful experiences that educate and equip our students for success.
Our community has endured a lot over the last few years between rain storms, hurricanes, a pandemic, and a catastrophic freeze. Yet, after a whirlwind four years since launching the five- year strategic plan, A New Way Forward, we continue to move ahead in fulfilling our goals and meeting the strategic priorities.
The work has been challenging and yet our teachers and leaders continue to do the hard work. Leadership Matters. It matters on all levels. Leaders set a vision and maintain the systems. They also advance equity and the culture required to give students access to high-quality schools and learning experiences. We continue to expand our aspiring leadership pipeline of effective educators who embody the Aldine Leadership Definition – Inspire, Impact, Connect. I have confidence in our educators and leaders to continue moving us in the right direction.
This document shows our overall progress as we continue to provide choices and opportunities that are closing gaps and broadening possibilities for our students now and in the future. Every decision has led to increased student opportunities and choices that are closing gaps and broadening possibilities for higher education.
