Oversight Committee
Following the approval of all three bond propositions totaling approximately $1.8 billion during the November 2023 election, Aldine ISD announced the convening of a Bond Oversight Committee.
The Committee is an independent citizens’ Committee that is responsible to the Superintendent, Board, and the general public. The charge is to provide support and advice on all applicable Bond-funded construction projects and help interested community members stay informed about new construction and renovation projects in Aldine ISD.
Their role is simple, yet important. They will monitor the progress of the district’s bond program, reviewing and ensuring that we follow the voter-approved bond programs and monitor the scope of work to ensure they are completed on time, with quality, and within budget.
The Committee’s charge is
- to focus should be advice and support rather than limited to hindsight;
- to review the financial status of the voter-approved bond program through periodic financial reports;
- to monitor the progress of voter-approved projects and review the expenditure of bond proceeds to determine that proceeds are being expended for the approved purpose;
- to meet quarterly to perform the work of the committee; and
- to report updates and findings to the Aldine ISD Board of Trustees as needed.
The meetings will be planned and facilitated by Chief Operations Officer Fred Washington. The 2024 meeting schedule is below:
- Wednesday, Jan. 10, 3-4:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, April 10, 3-4:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, July 10, 3-4:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, October 10, 3-4:30 p.m.
Meeting dates and times are subject to change. Additional meetings will be added as necessary. Meetings are open to the public.
